Types of Maintenance There are 2 areas of maintenance that you should be concerned with: Hardware maintenance and Software maintenance. Software maintenance includes: downloading and installing patches and updates, cleaning out the temp files and caches, checking the hard drive for bad or damaged blocks, and defragmentation of files on the hard drive.
